" Be the change you want to see in the world "

I formed Zero waste Matakana coast in 2016. First on the list was to try and get our community plastic bag free, local sewers and non sewers alike joined forces and soon over 600 bags were distributed though out the community, after a successful zero waste market day with Matakana village  I saw people wanted to do something, learn something, help somehow so I started regular workshops, beeswax wraps, homemade cleaners, product bags, utensil kits, anything that could be used to reduce our need for single use plastics.

In 2018 I won Auckland councils ‘Trailblazer’ award for the individual who has gone above and beyond demonstrating their passion, knowledge, encouragement and empowerment for zero waste in their community this spurred me on to continuing our workshops as a yearly winter series and I’m proud to say we have just completed our 4th sold out season.

Zero waste is an important part of our everyday philosophy at home, and so we aim to make it one in business too.

All of the products sold though 'Matakana Nut Butters' are either glass for easy reuse or recycling, compostable packaging or working with us to get to compostable packaging.

We also chose a courier company that is CEMARS® Certified -  greenhouse gas emissions are measured in accordance with ISO 14064-1 . We make sure they are committed to managing and reducing emissions.

As a family business, we are dedicated to planting trees each year to make our business and family lifestyle carbon neutral.  We encourage you to too!

We think it is vital, that in business and home we do our best to reduce unnecessary waste and work at encouraging our communities in going ZeroWaste and carbon neutral.
